Datezy ("we", "us") operates the dating service at datezy.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal data described below. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have under UK GDPR.

Information we collect

• Account data: email address and phone number (used to sign you in and verify your account).
• Profile data: your name, date of birth, gender, who you want to meet, photos, bio, interests and prompts.
• Special category data: if you choose to share your sexual orientation or religion, we process it only with your explicit consent, and you can remove it at any time.
• Location: approximate location to show distance and nearby matches. We never display your exact location to other users.
• Usage & device data: how you use the app, plus device and log information, to keep the service secure and working.
• Payment data: if you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
• Messages: the content of messages you send to other members.

How and why we use it (legal bases)

• To provide the service — matching, messaging, your profile (performance of our contract with you).
• Safety & fraud prevention — verification, moderation, blocking and reporting (our legitimate interests).
• Special category data — only on your explicit consent.
• Marketing — only if you opt in; you can withdraw consent anytime.
• Legal compliance — where the law requires it.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers who help us run Datezy — for example hosting, Stripe (payments), our email and SMS providers, and Apple/Google for sign-in — and with authorities where legally required.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase or anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain limited information for legal, safety or fraud-prevention reasons.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your data, request portability, and withdraw consent at any time. You can export or delete your data from within the app (Settings). To exercise any right, contact privacy@datezy.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Security

We protect your data with encryption in transit, hashed credentials, photo metadata (EXIF) stripping, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep yours safe.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. We do not use advertising cookies.

Age

Datezy is strictly for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
